Projects
Fort Street Presbyterian, Detroit, MI
Our current main project is refurbishing the large
four-manual organ at Fort Street Presbyterian in
Detroit. Built in 1915 by the Wangerin company of
Milwaukee, the organ needed quite a lot of work by
2013. We have fitted the 1953 Moller console with
four English keyboards, and installed a solid state
switching system.
The leather pouches for the facade pipes and the
large Pedal offset chests had deteriorated, and we
are currently replacing all those pouches. Note
the attempts at repair of the pouches in the
attached photo. The next phase will be to rebuild
the primaries for the Swell and Great chests, and
by the end of this year this major Detroit pipe
organ will have a new lease on life.
